Z-CoiL pegs firm’s future to stock issue - New Mexico Business Weekly

The past five years have not been kind to Z-Tech.

The Albuquerque-based maker of Z-CoiL Footwear, the shoes with the funky-looking springs on the heels, has incurred losses in five of its past eight fiscal years. Sales peaked at $12 million in 2005, but have been sliding since to about $6 million in 2010.

The company has faced financing difficulties with its lender, including losing a $2 million line of credit.

But Z-CoiL is rolling out a new line of shoes without the coil, an aesthetic stumbling block for many potential buyers.
