National Stop Snoring Week 2005 (18th - 23rd April): Snoring Isn't Sexy

The Moderate Voice - Snoring Isn't Sexy: "A word to guys who snore: if you make with the 'zzzzzzzs' you are less likely to get the 'sexxxxx..'

In other words, if a night you can't be quiet, you may have to go on a love diet. This info comes from a new survey done in England. As the Telegraph elegantly puts it:

More than a quarter 'hardly ever' have sex and 60 per cent are regularly told to sleep in the spare room, says the report at the start of National Stop Snoring Week.

The British Snoring & Sleep Apnoea Association study confirms many widely-held assumptions and says the problem causes rows and can lead to divorce.

More than half of the couples questioned admitted that they had sexual intercourse less than once a month and said they would do so more often if the snoring stopped." (more)

This year the British Snoring & Sleep Apnoea Association launched an interactive blog .

Hopefully, more Associations will follow their lead and integrate blogs in the campaigns. Blogs are a cost effective, easily manageable publishing tool that is another tool that can be used to get their message out and provide an opportunity for their community to discuss personal experiences on an international level.

A new website, snoringisntsexy.com, describes dentistry's role in the recognition and management of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. The site is developing a directory of dentists who can help with oral appliance therapy as a first course of treatment in mild to moderate sleep apnea and as an alternative to CPAP when people cannot tolerate the device.
